Therapeutic Exercise and Neuromuscular Re-education

Your therapist will work with you on developing a targeted exercise program to help you heal yourself. Neuromuscular re-education is a tool that your therapist uses to improve sensorimotor control and achieve functional stability. Unlike conventional strength training, neuromuscular exercise addresses the quality of movement and emphasizes joint control in all three movement planes.

Dry Needling

Trigger-point dry needling involves the insertion of a fine needle into the skin and muscle. The needle is aimed at myofascial trigger points (MTrP), which are hyperirritable bands of muscle. Trigger points can result in local or referred pain. They cause muscle weakness and decreased mobility (tightness). Insertion of the needle into the trigger point results in a relaxation of this band of muscle, improved bloodflow, decreased inflammatory chemicals, and improved mobility.

Visceral Mobilization

Visceral mobilization is a hands on therapy geared at increasing proprioceptive communication of the body’s internal organs, membranes, fascia and ligaments within the body. Strains in the visceral connective tissue are the result of adhesions, surgical scarring, inflammation, illness, postural dysfunction or injury. Visceral mobilization aims to reduce these restrictions and improve mobility to relieve symptoms of pain, dysfunction and poor posture.

cupping

Cupping

Cupping is the practice of placing special cups on the skin to create suction. This suction causes the tissue beneath the cup to be drawn up, resulting in an increase in blood flow to affected area. Increased blood flow can help ease sore muscles, improve cellular activity, and promote tissue healing.

Ultrasound and Low Level Laser Therapy

Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) affects the function of connective tissue cells, accelerates connective tissue repair and acts as an anti-inflammatory agent. It is used to treat neuropathic pain, tendonitis, bursitis, plantar fasciitis, and in the treatment of lymphedema.

Ultrasound Therapy is used to increase cellular activity, speed the rate of healing and enhance quality of the repair. It can also aide in scar tissue remodeling.
